Drainage Channel and Vapor Barrier Installed in Seville, OH

Challenge

Homeowners in Seville, OH were fed up by the water infiltration year after year during the rainy seasons. The water damage was getting so bad that black mold was growing on the block walls. Wanting to fix the state of their home, these customers gave Cleveland Basement Systems a call to help them figure out a permanent solution to their leaky basement.

During the free estimate, the inspector assessed the entire basement. He found that one wall of the basement was leaking water heavily. It appeared this wall had undergone years of water damage without being fixed. The inspector sat down with the homeowners and explained that we could help them get rid of this problem once and for all by correctly waterproofing the area. The customer's felt comfortable and excited to move forward and have their project installed!

Solution

On the day of the install, the waterproofing crew arrived promptly at the customer's house. They did an initial walkthrough with the homeowner to re-explain the process and answer any questions. They then began by installing the WaterGuard drainage channel along the perimeter of the basement floor. To do this, they used a jackhammer to create a space for the piping to go. They then drilled weeping holes in the bottom of the wall in order for water to flow into the WaterGuard system. The installers placed WaterGuard into the area they made, surrounded it with gravel, and concreted over it. WaterGuard is a non-clog channel that catches water from both the walls and the floor and directs it to the sump pump.

After installing the WaterGuard system, the crew then tightly hung the CleanSpace wall covering system. CleanSpace is a 20mil thick plastic liner that is tear-resistant and works against water as a vapor barrier. CleanSpace rejects mold growth and helps to move water in the WaterGuard. As a plus, CleanSpace has a bright, white appearance to transform a dark looking basement!

These homeowners was relieved to finally have a years-long problem put to bed!
